CONSTRUCTION VS ROLLERBLADES

With a roar, the construction worker charged the opposite building. He crashed through the entire front façade, breaking every panel that touched the ground. From on high, the rollerblader watched with curiosity, putting a hand on his chin in mock-concern.

“Try skating past that, fucker!” the construction worker shouted.

The skater nodded. He gestured for the construction worker to get out of his way.

Harrumphing, the construction worker obliged.

“How kind of him,” Domi commented.

“I get the feeling he’s not a work-smarter kinda guy,” Zeke said, shrugging. “He seems more like a bulldoze-through, brute-force kinda guy.”

“The skater won’t come down if he’s too close, and he knows it,” Mia said. She pointed. “Last time, he stood there waiting, and the skater just took a break until he backed off.”

“I see, I see,” Zeke said, nodding.

Domi pointed, gesturing up and down the opposite wall. “This is why you need traps and ground-effecting skills. If it was me, I’d have that whole wall trapped. Good luck to the skater who wants to skate down a minefield.”

“It’s a bad matchup all around. The skater can’t hurt him, he can’t hurt the skater. It’s just kind of become a war of attrition,” Zeke agreed.

“Which is what it would be if we were fighting, but luckily, the skater decided to do us a solid, not that he knows,” Domi said, chuckling at the last bit.

“Rather be in here than out there,” Zeke agreed.

The skater hurtled down the wall again. His blades flashed in the sunlight, glinting just like the glass. His straps snapped behind him. His wraparound glasses gleamed.

“He thinks he’s so cool,” Zeke muttered.

“He is so cool,” Mia said.

“Mmm, I gotta go with Zeke, here,” Domi said, shaking her head. “Our boy’s lost the thread. He’s in the wrong decade, and he doesn’t even know it.”

At the broken glass, the skater leaped into the air. The blades snapped out of his feet, and he dove at the construction worker from a story up.

The construction worker’s eyes gleamed. He knelt, the leapt up with explosive speed, catching the skater in midair. Muscular, suntanned arms wrapped tight around the skater’s relatively slender form. “Got you now, fucker.”

“Oooh, things are looking bad for the skater boy. Is it time to say, see you later, boy?” Domi commentated.

The skater thrashed in the man’s hold. The construction worker’s grip tightened, and the skater’s face turned redder and redder. They crashed back to earth, jarring them.

For just a split second, the construction worker’s grip loosened. The skater’s eyes gleamed. He tensed.

“Oh, no you don’t!” The construction worker yanked his arms shut again.

Swords shot out from every inch of his body, piercing through the construction worker just as the man tightened his grip. The construction worker’s own strength sent the blades deeper into his body. He screamed and released the skater, staggering back.

Zeke’s eyes widened. Now’s my chance to steal the kill. He stepped forward, not leaving the lobby, but drawing closer to battle. He reached his hand out and activated Ranged Devour, targeting the construction worker’s back.
